Prince albert Prince Albert, Canada

Comparison of radar and optical observation
April 13, 1994

This video provides a comparison between simultaneous observations of Prince Albert by the SIR-C L-band radar instrument and CCD camera located in the STS-59 shuttle bay.
In the first segment a cloudness map of Earth is used to indicate the position of the Canadian Prince Albert backup supersite.
In the next segment, we see a side-by-side comparison of the two observations.
The last segment shows the radar image superimposed on the camera image

Produced for SIR-C by the Solar System Visualization Project, the JPL Radar Science & Engineering and the Image Processing Application & Development Sections at the Digital Image Animation Laboratory by G.F. Gunningham, E.M. De Jong, D.L. Evans, R. Kwok, M. MaAuley, M.J. Sander, E.R. Stofan, S. Suzuki and the members of the SIR-C/X-SAR flight team.

Special Thanks to Tom Van Sant - Geosphere Project for cloudness Earth map.
